Democracy Restored is celebrating a major win for accountability and transparency in the intelligence community.
This week, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard dismissed two top National Intelligence Council officials — acting chair Mike Collins and deputy Maria Langan-Riekhof — following whistleblower allegations that both were “radically opposed to Trump” and allegedly worked to politicize intelligence.
Gabbard is also relocating the NIC from CIA headquarters to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to ensure proper oversight and prevent further politicization of intelligence.
Officials said Collins was closely associated with former CIA deputy director Michael Morrell and efforts to organize the now-debunked 2020 letter that dismissed the Hunter Biden laptop story as “Russian disinformation.” Whistleblowers also described Langan-Riekhof as a “key advocate” for DEI initiatives and someone vocally opposed to the Trump administration.
Quote from Democracy Restored Director Houston Keene:
“We applaud DNI Gabbard for taking critical steps towards depoliticizing our intelligence community. An important step in restoring democracy is exposing and removing special interest-driven career bureaucrats.”
