The Office of Personnel Management’s proposals to bring appeal authority under their jurisdiction can help ensure the government’s professional standards are kept.

WASHINGTON, D.C. –This week, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) announced two new rule proposals that will streamline the federal government’s appeals process for fired employees.

The new proposals would give OPM control over suitability appeals and appeals for employees released from reduction in force (RIF) initiatives, making the buck stop with the White House instead of the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB). The proposals, if implemented, would further streamline the government and ensure our federal workers keep the standard that comes with representing the United States government.

Quote from Democracy Restored Director Houston Keene

“OPM’s new proposals are a critical step that needs to be taken to streamline our federal government and ensure its standards are being kept. The American people should have confidence that their government is hiring the best of the best to serve us and the elected officials we put into place. Merit built America, and merit will keep us thriving.”
